General information - Ceramic Infrared Radiators
Infrared radiation refers to the propagation of electromagnetic waves in the spectral range above visible light, from 0.7 µm to approximately 80 µm. The propagation of these electromagnetic waves is accompanied by the directional transfer of energy. Infrared ceramic radiators are effective and robust infrared emitters that provide medium- and long-wave infrared radiation, depending on the material and the application process. Infrared ceramic radiators have an operating temperature of 450 °C to 850 °C with an infrared wavelength range of 2 to 10 µm. Most plastics, as well as many other materials, absorb infrared radiation best in this range, which is why the ceramic radiator is the most widely used infrared radiator on the market.
Applications and common uses for IR ceramics radiators
Infrared ceramics radiators are used in various industrial sectors, ranging from thermoforming to paint drying. Examples of applications for infrared radiators:
Activating adhesives and heat-seal layers, drying plastic emulsions
Drying and baking of painted sheet metal parts, melting of powder coatings
Drying of glazes on ceramic tiles, tempering of glass & injection-moulded parts
Soldering of printed circuit boards, furnace construction, heating of climate chambers, thermoforming
Preheating of weld seams in pipe construction, melting of sound-insulating mats
Curing of epoxy resins, production of shrink film
Gelling of PVC paste coatings on fabrics
Heating of GRP and CFRP parts
General information - Silicone Heaters
Silicone heating mats are used to keep components of various shapes at a constant temperature or to heat them. Thanks to their even heat distribution, silicone heating mats are particularly suitable for complex structures and surfaces. They can be manufactured in virtually any shape and size. Their special construction protects them against moisture, chemical influences and environmental stresses.

Silicone heating mats can be manufactured in almost any conceivable shape and size on request. A temperature sensor, thermal switch or thermal protector can also be integrated on request.

Installation and commissioning
Care must be taken during installation to avoid deforming the silicon heating element. Difficult installation conditions should be taken into account at the design stage. The heating elements must only be operated with a suitable temperature control system.
The following points must be observed:
Do not drill, cut or damage the heating mat
Clean and degrease the surface of the component to be heated before fixing the heating mats.
The use of a temperature controller (thermostats, sensors, limiters, etc.) is strongly recommended. In certain applications, this is essential to ensure the heating mats function correctly. The maximum surface temperature must not be exceeded.
The entire surface of the mat must be in perfect contact with the heated surface at every point. Contact heat transfer.
Avoid any contact with materials to which the silicone elastomer is not resistant.
