Fans
General information
Fans are designed and manufactured for the conveyance of gaseous, non-corrosive media.
When suitable materials are used and surface protection (corrosion protection) is applied, the fan is also suitable for conveying corrosive media. Any other applications require mutual agreement and must be approved and authorised by the manufacturer. Otherwise, no warranty or liability is accepted. The conveyance of explosive air mixtures must be avoided under all circumstances.
Installation and commissioning
Standard fans are centrifugal fans with a ball-bearing electric motor. The medium is drawn in axially and discharged radially in the desired direction.
When connecting the fan’s cable ends to the mains supply, there is a risk of electric shock unless the circuit has first been rendered voltage-free. Always ensure the circuit is voltage-free before working on live parts. The electrical connection must only be carried out by suitably qualified and trained electrical specialists.
Electrical specialists are persons who are familiar with the installation, assembly, commissioning and operation of the device/machine and who possess qualifications appropriate to their work, or who have received training or instruction in accordance with safety engineering standards regarding the maintenance and use of appropriate safety equipment and accident prevention.
The installation depends on the requirements for the fan and the function-specific conditions at the installation site (on the machine or on the unit).
Connection and installation:
The terminal assignments on the terminal block can be found in the terminal box. The circuit diagram must be observed. A correct hook-up ensures trouble-free operation
Install the power supply cable in accordance with the operating requirements and the respective local regulations.
The operating entity must install a suitable motor cut-off switch. The minimum specifications for this (nominal current) are shown on the type plate.
The blower may only be mounted using one location! Either at the exhaust flange, the blower base and/or motor console or at the intake mounting flange.
Blower mounting:
A double sided mounting must be avoided. This can result in damage and failure of blower components. Decouple the structure bound sound by installing a canvas expansion sleeve. The blower may only be mounted using one location. Either at the exhaust flange, the blower base and/or motor console or at the intake mounting flange.
Storage:
Prior to transporting the blower to the installation site, the equipment should only be stored in enclosed, dry areas. Storage in open spaces that are protected by roofing is permitted for only short periods. The blower must be protected against damaging environmental influences and mechanical damage.
Safety information
The fan must only be used if it is in perfect working order and its electrical components are undamaged. Using a faulty unit poses a lethal risk.
No materials that can be easily drawn in, such as polystyrene, rags or similar, must be present in the intake area. Ensure there is sufficient clearance from the intake opening.
Take note of the direction and area of air discharge. In the event of impeller failure, the fragments must not cause any consequential damage to the objects being cooled.
Electrical protective devices must meet the requirements of the machine in which the fans are installed (e.g. motor protection switches, etc.).
Operators must be familiar with all measures described in these installation instructions regarding the proper handling and correct use of this unit.
Operate the fan only with the intake guard in place and secure it against unauthorised removal. In certain operating modes, motors can reach 80 °C on the housing surface. Allow to cool down before touching. Radiant heat from other machine components or equipment must be avoided. In the event of prolonged radiant heat, there is a risk of bearing damage due to lubricant leakage.
